Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Curcuma longa and Tinospora crispa extracts in drinking water on body weight gain, cumulative feed consumption, and feed conversion in broiler chickens up to 35 days of age. A total of 300 male day old chickens were used in this study with five different treatments: T1 as control (no extract), T2 (5 grams Curcuma longa extract and 2 grams Tinospora crispa extract per litre of water), T3 (5 grams Curcuma longa extract and 4 grams Tinospora crispa per litre), T4 (5 grams Curcuma longa extract and 6 grams Tinospora crispa per litre), and T5 (5 grams Curcuma longa extract and 8 grams Tinospora crispa per litre). Drinking water containing the extracts was given once every five days for one day, and vaccinations were conducted at 4 and 21 days of age to prevent ND disease. Variables observed included feed consumption, body weight gain, and feed conversion, which were analysed using analysis of variance. Results showed that the addition of Curcuma longa and Curcuma longa extracts to drinking water had no significant effect on cumulative body weight, which ranged from 1,876.51 to 1,953.43 grams, feed consumption (3045.26 to 3169.87 grams), or feed conversion (1.60 to 1.64). Based on these results, the addition of Curcuma longa and Tinospora crispa extracts did not affect the growth performance of broilers on the parameters tested up to 35 days of age.
