Abstract

The Lambusango forest has been changing in the past 10 years both of vegetation and canopy density. This study aims to know changes in the canopy density of the Lambusango forest from 2007 to 2017. The canopy density information is obtained through the model of the Forest Canopy Density (FCD) that can maximize vegetation classification from other indexes of vegetation such as RVI, NDVI, SAVI, and the others. Data is analyzed by using overlay. The result of analysis shows that in period 2007 to 2017 there was a changing in the area of 29.919,75 ha. The largest changed area of production forest is 10.663,92 ha. The most density class that changes from medium density to tight density is 22.873,49 ha. This indication shows that is an increasing of density, which in 2007 was medium density, and then In 2017 increases to be tight density. Keywords: Canopy density, FCD, PCA
