HUBUNGAN KEKUATAN OTOT LENGAN DENGAN KEMAMPUAN CHEST PASS DALAM PERMAINAN BOLA BASKET PADA SISWA SMA KARTIKA XX-2 KENDARI

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between arm muscle strength and chest pass ability in basketball in KARTIKA XX-2 KENDARI high school students. The population in this study was class XI IPA KARTIKA XX-2 KENDARI high school, amounting to 94 people, 60 women and 34 men. The sampling technique was done by using purposive random sampling with consideration of students who were male so that 34 people were obtained. The instrument used to measure arm muscle strength is the push-up test for 30 seconds and the instrument for the ability of the chest pass is the test of throwing towards the target for 30 seconds. Furthermore, the research data were analyzed using statistical product moment correlation techniques with a significance level of 0.05. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between arm muscle strength and chest pass ability in KARTIKA XX-2 KENDARI high school students. Where rxy = 0.81 rtable (0.05: 34) = 0.339 with a coefficient of determination = 0.66 or 66%. So, arm muscle strength has contributed to the ability of chest pass in basketball in KARTIKA XX-2 KENDARI high school students. Based on the results of this analysis it can be concluded that the better the arm muscle strength of KARTIKA XX-2 KENDARI high school students, the better the ability to do a chest pass.
