Abstract

In Southeast Sulawesi, the Ultisol soil type has an area of about 22,997.29 km2. Ultisol' soil has a low soil pH, the large number of H+ ions in the soil causes metal elements such as Al and Fe to be easily soluble and causes most of the P to be bound by Al and Fe elements so that they are not available in the soil and cannot be absorbed by plants. One of the reasons for the decline in total corn production was due to soil fertility problems, which were dominated by Ultisol soils. Therefore, the use of bokashi chicken manure and dolomite is an effort to increase soil pH so that the required nutrients can be available such as P and Mg. This study aims to determine the effect of giving bokashi chicken manure and dolomite to soil pH, available P and Mg and the dose on Ultisol soil and corn plant growth. This research was conducted at the Field Laboratory II of the Faculty of Agriculture, Halu Oleo University, from January to May 2022. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with a factorial pattern. The first factor, bokashi chicken manure consists of 3 levels, namely B0 = control, B1 = 200 g polybag-1 (equivalent to 40 tons/ha), B2 = 400 g polybag-1 (equivalent to 80 tons/ha). The second factor, dolomite consists of 3 levels, namely K0 = control, K1 = 10 g polybag-1 (equivalent to 2 tons/ha), K2 = 20 g polybag-1 (equivalent to 4 tons/ha) and repeated 3 replications. The results showed that the application of bokashi chicken manure and dolomite had an effect on increasing soil pH, available P and Mg. Soil pH increased from 4,31 to 6,30 and available P increased from 10,64 ppm to 30,63 ppm, while Mg increased from 0,64 me/100g to 1,38 me/100g. The combination of bokashi of chicken manure and dolomite gave better yields with an average plant height of 168,50 cm and an average number of leaves of 13,00 strands. Keywords: Bokashi chicken manure; corn; dolomite; ultisol
