Abstract

Tuberculosis is a contagious infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which can attack various organs. This study aims to determine the relationship between the physical quality of the home (occupancy density, ventilation area, floor type, temperature and humidity) and smoking habits with the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in the coastal area of Kendari City in 2021. This research method is a quantitative research using an analytical observational research design with a case control study method. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between residential density and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in the coastal area of Kendari City in 2021 with a ρ-value of 0.020 (OR = 4.084; 95% CI 1.363-12.019). There is a relationship between ventilation area and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in the coastal area of Kendari City in 2021 with a ρ-value of 0.045 (OR=3.182; 95% CI 1.145-8.841). There is no relationship between the type of floor and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in the coastal area of Kendari City in 2021 with ρ-value 0.749 (OR=1.512; 95% CI 0.425-5.384). There is a relationship between temperature and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in the coastal area of Kendari City in 2021 with a ρ-value of 0.023 (OR=3.735; 95% CI 1.314-10.618). There is a relationship between humidity and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in the coastal area of Kendari City in 2021 with a ρ-value of 0.011 (OR = 4.385; 95% CI 1.509-12,741). There is a relationship between smoking habits and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in the coastal area of Kendari City in 2021 with a ρ-value of 0.005 (OR=5.571 95% CI 1.801-17.239). It is hoped that the community will be able to improve the physical condition of the home in accordance with the criteria for a healthy home
