Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is a food that is of high value for infant growth and development. WHO showed that the average rate of exclusive breastfeeding for infants aged 0-6 months around the world is only around 39% in 2016. In Kendari City, especially the Mekar Health Center regarding exclusive breastfeeding coverage was still not reaching the target, where the target of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia is 80%. The study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge, attitudes and family support about lactation management with exclusive breastfeeding on working mothers in the work area of Mekar Health Center in 2018. The type of study used was analytic observational with a cross sectional study approach. The population in this study was all office-working mothers who had children aged 7-24 months in the work area of the Mekar Health Center in 2018 which amounted to 68 people, the sampling technique was the total sampling technique with a total sample of 68 respondents. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate by Chi-square test. The results of the study at 95% confidence level showed that there was no relationship between knowledge about lactation management and exclusive breastfeeding in office-working mothers (pValue = 0,546), there was a relationship between attitude (pValue = 0,024) and family support (pValue = 0,045) about lactation management with exclusive breastfeeding in office-working mothers.
