Abstract

Background of the research: Hypertension is a major cause of death and a double burden of disease as well as a silent killer, endemic that cannot be seen. Hypertension still becomes a public health problem, including those in coastal areas. The prevalence of hypertension in coastal areas is higher than in mountainous areas. Lifestyle may cause a tendency for hypertension to occur in coastal areas. The purpose of this research was to analyze the factors associated with the incidence of hypertension in the coastal society, East Kolono District, South Konawe Regency. Methods: The design of this study used a Cross sectional Study approach. The sampling technique is simple random sampling, with a sample size of 197 respondents. The instrument used is a Questionnaire and Spignomanometer measuring instrument. Data were analyzed using Chi-square test with a significance value of p value 0,05 and Logistics Regression test. Research Results: There is a relationship between physical activity and the incidence of hypertension with a significance test value of p value = 0,048. There is no relationship between family history and the incidence of hypertension with a significance test value of p value = 0,651. On the results of the analysis of the Logistics Regression test on the physical activity variable, EXP (B) with a value of = 0.497 (CI: 95% 0,247-1,000) then people who do not have physical activity have a 0.497-fold risk of hypertension. Conclusion: One of the factors related to the incidence of hypertension in coastal communities is physical activity. Knowledge, information of health workers and family support on the benefits of physical activity have a role in preventing risk factors for hypertension.
