Abstract

Malaria is still a public health problem in Indonesia, Provincial Health Office Data Southeast Sulawesi In 2014 in Southeast Sulawesi, especially Konawe Selatan District, malaria cases were still very high with 1,339 cases of cases7. One of the efforts to eradicate and prevent transmission of malaria can be done by controlling the vector of the disease. Efforts to control disease vectors can be carried out biologically in the form of natural insecticides by utilizing plants toxic to insects but not having an environmental impact or being environmentally friendly and harmless to humans. The aim of the study was to analyze the potential of papaya leaf chemicals in papaya species in rural areas and coastal areas as ingredients for making natural pesticides. Method, Using the method of exploring potential chemicals of various types of papaya leaves and making papaya leaf extracts. Performed at the Analytical Unit Laboratory, UPT Integrated Laboratory of Halu Oleo University Kendari. Analysis of the results of the research data was carried out with the help of a computer program using a probit test to determine the value of LC50 and LC90 from papaya leaf extract. Results, there are alkoloid, flavonoids, steroids / triterpenes, saponins, polyphenols and tannins in papaya leaf extract. The chemical content contained in papaya leaf extract has the potential to kill mosquito larvae as a forerunner to the cause of malaria
