THE LACK OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND SMOKING HABIT RELATED WITH THE OCCURRENCE OF CHD IN BAHTERAMAS HOSPITAL KENDARI CITY

Abstract

Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is a disease that occurs in coronary artery blood vessels and is one of the main causes of death in various parts of the continent. General Hospital of Bahteramas Region Kendari City has found Coronary Heart patients with the numbers tend to increase in recent years. The purpose of this study to determine factors associated with the occurrence of CHD in the General Hospital Region Bahteramas Kendari. The type of this research was analytic research with cross sectional design. Population in this research were all heart patients who seek treatment at Bahteramas General Hospital which amounts to 135 people with sample size 56 people and taken by simple random sampling. Based on the results, it found the relationship between physical activity with the occurrence of CHD (p= 0.000), and the relationship between smoking habit with the occurrence of CHD (p= 0.000). Conclusion: there was relationship between physical activity with the occurrence of CHD and there was relationship between smoking habits with the occurrence of CHD. Advice CHD patients to change the pattern life style for better life such as always doing exercise and reduce cigarette consumption. For the hospital to provide counseling to patients who come to the hospital heart department
