Abstract

A person’s health is not only free from medical examination disease, but also related to social and psychological aspects. Every deviation from physiological, psychological and social welfare conditions is influenced by various factors. However, each of these components has a different contribution to the incidence of a disease. This study aims to examine the role of the type of food and smoking on the risk of gastritis occurrence who visit the Muna police clinic. The research design used a Case Control Study. The population of this study were all patients who checked themselves at the Muna Police Clinic from January to August 2021. The sample in this study amounted to 76 samples (38 cases and 38 controls). Sampling is simple random sampling. The results showed that the type of food was a risk factor for gastritis (p-value = 0.000, OR = 6.98), while smoking was not a risk factor (p-value = 1.00, OR = 1.00). The police are expected to be more aware of the factors that cause gastritis, and more importantly know how to prevent gastritis as early as possible, so that complications do not occur. Police should be able to maintain health by choosing the right type of food, maintaining a good and healthy diet with balanced nutrition and reducing smoking behavior
