Abstract

Background: Corona Virus Diseases (COVID-19) is a new infectious disease caused by the corona virus and is transmitted through direct contact with liquid droplets (droplets) from the respiratory tract of an infected person. The increase in the number of COVID-19 patients ultimately raises anxiety in the community. It also raises various societal stigmatizations against patients (sufferers) and people with a high risk of being exposed to COVID-19, such as in the professions of doctors, nurses, and all health workers. This study aims to determine the behavior of sufferers towards the stigmatization of COVID-19 in Kendari City, a landmark Sulawesi. The type of research used is qualitative research with a case study approach. Informants in this study were 2 patients with COVID-19 who had been declared cured. The results of this study indicate that the attitude of the sufferer to the stigmatization of COVID-19 that is received is quite good by choosing to stay at home and undergo independent isolation and not take Stigma seriously. Subjective Norms, sufferers feel and believe that the stigmatization of COVID-19 that has been received has significantly affected the healing process but tries to motivate themselves not to think about it and focus on treatment. The patient has good behavioral control where the patient chooses to do positive things while undergoing treatment at the hospital rather than thinking about community opinions and community accusations against him. The patient’s intention to temporarily stay away from the place of residence due to the received COVID-19 stigmatization
