Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) is the leading cause of infant and childhood mortality in Indonesia. The morbidity rate of ARI at the Wonggeduku Health Center always ranks first on the list of top 10 diseases. This study aimed to determine the relationship between house sanitation (house ventilation conditions, occupancy density, floor type, and smoking habits in the house) with the incidence of Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) in toddlers in the Wonggeduku Public Health Center work area, Konawe Regency. This research method used quantitative research with a cross sectional study approach. This study used purposive sampling technique. The population in this study was 1,125 children, the sample size was 56 children. The results of this study show that there was a meaningful relationship between home ventilation and the incidence of ARI (p-value = 0.4450.05) there was no meaningful relationship between occupancy density and ISPA incidence (p-value 0.3230.05), there was no meaningful relationship between Floor Type and ARI incidence (p-value=0.0430.05 there is a meaningful relationship between smoking in the house and the incidence of ARI (p-value=0.3010.05).
