Eksplorasi Pemahaman Konsep Dasar Fungsi Ditinjau Dari Tingkat Kemampuan Matematika Siswa SMA

Abstract

Abstrak: Pemahaman yang dimaksud pada penelitian ini mengacu pada lima kategori yakni 1) dapat menjelaskan pengertian fungsi secara konseptual, 2) dapat mengidentifikasi semua komponen yang membangun konsep tersebut, 3) dapat melakukan pengaitan antar komponen pembangun konsep, 4) dapat melakukan penguatan secara internal, dan 5) dapat melakukan penguatan secara eksternal. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemahaman siswa SMA terhadap konsep dasar fungsi berdasarkan tingkat kemampuan matematika tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan eksploratif. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari tiga siswa SMA yang telah mempelajari konsep dasar fungsi yang diidentifikasi sebagai siswa berkemampuan matematika tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Ketiga subjek ini ditentukan melalui hasil tes kemampuan matematika (TKM) dan didukung oleh informasi dan rekomendasi dari guru matematika yang mengajar di kelas siswa tersebut. Data penelitian berupa hasil wawancara peneliti terhadap subjek, yang dilakukan melalui proses yang mendalam (in-depth), terbuka (overt), dan tidak terstruktur (unstructured). Hasil dari penelitian ini dikemukakan adalah 1) subjek berkemampuan matematika tinggi mempunyai pemahaman yang lengkap terhadap konsep dasar fungsi, 2) subjek berkemampuan matematika sedang mempunyai pemahaman yang tidak lengkap terhadap konsep dasar fungsi, dan 3) subjek berkemampuan matematika rendah tidak mempunyai pemahaman terhadap konsep dasar fungsi sangat lemah.Kata kunci: Pemahaman, Konsep Dasar Fungsi, Kemampuan Matematika Abstract: The understanding of this study based on the five categories, Viz. 1) Explanation of the conceptual function understanding, 2) Identifying the whole components in developing the concept, 3) interconnecting in between the components of concept development, 4) to strengthening the concept internally, 5) to strengthening the concept externally. This research is the qualitative study with the purpose to know the high school student understanding of the basic concept of function based on the three different level (high, middle and low). This study based on the method of qualitative research with the explorative approach. Research subjects consist of three student of senior high school who has studied the basic concept function who classified in three different abilities (high, middle and low). Those are classified based on the test result of the mathematical competence and supported by the information and recommendation from the teacher who teach in their class. Data collected are the results interview of this study focusing on the subject above which has done through the in depth interview, open interview and unstructured interview. The result of this study show that 1) the higher the student ability thecomplete the understanding of basic concept function, 2) the subject who has moderate mathematical ability is incompletely to understand the concept, 3) the lower the student ability the highest failure to understand the concept.
