Abstract

Kata Kunci: Biostimulan, Matoa, Vegetatif Generative propagation of Matoa (Pometia pinnata L.) is good, but it takes quite a long time for a plant to grow and develop into an adult. Vegetative development is an alternative that needs to be done, one of which is by cutting. Development by cuttings is expected to guarantee the same characteristics as the parent. The use of several natural biostimulants can stimulate the rooting of cuttings because they produce IAA (auxin). This research is an experimental study which aims to study the vegetative propagation techniques of Matoa (Pometia pinnata L.) and determine the effect of suitable biostimulants on vegetative propagation through shoot cuttings and stem cuttings of Matoa (Pometia pinnata L.). The research was carried out using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors, namely the method of administering the biostimulant (control, soaking and paste) and the type of cuttings (stems and shoots), three replications were used with 3 cuttings per treatment unit so that 54 experimental units were obtained with two observation times. The changes observed were the percentage of live cuttings, the percentage of cuttings with callus, the number of callus, the percentage of sprouted cuttings, the number of shoots, the length of shoots, the percentage of rooted cuttings, the number of roots, the length of roots, the wet weight of roots and the dry weight of roots. It is hoped that the results of this research can provide information about suitable breeding techniques and suitable biostimulants for developing Matoa (Pometia pinnata L.) cuttings. The research results showed that there was no significant effect of several biostimulants on the growth of Matoa (Pometia pinnata L.) cuttings. Keywords: Biostimulant, Matoa, Vegetative.
