METODE KOMPOSTER SAMPAH SKALA RUMAH TANGGA SEBAGAI UPAYA INTERVENSI SENSITIF DALAM PENCEGAHAN STUNTING PADA BALITA DI DESA MUARA PENIMBUNG ULU KECAMATAN INDRALAYA

Abstract

Stunting becomes a major nutritional problem compared to underweight, moderate underweight, and overweight. One of the indirect factors of stunting is poor environmental sanitation, which is poor waste management. Good waste management is urgent in efforts to minimize waste. This service aims to increase the knowledge of mothers of toddlers about organic household waste management. The method of Community service is counseling in the form of presentation and demonstration of making waste composter and its use. The results obtained are an increase in knowledge in 70% of mothers of children under five. This program concluded that this outreach could increase the understanding of mothers of toddlers' understanding of good household waste management by using a household-scale garbage composter. --- Stunting menjadi masalah gizi yang utama jika dibandingkan dengan masalah gizi buruk, kurang dan gemuk. Faktor penyebab tidak langsung dari stunting salah satunya adalah faktor sanitasi lingkungan yang buruk, satu diantaranya ialah pengelolaan sampah yang buruk. Pengelolaan sampah yang baik sangat penting dalam upaya minimasi sampah. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu balita tentang pengelolaan sampah organik rumah tangga. Metode pengabdian ini adalah penyuluhan berupa presentasi dan peragaan pembuatan komposter sampah dan penggunaannya. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah adanya peningkatan pengetahuan pada 70% ibu balita. Disimpulkan bahwa penyuluhan ini dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu balita terhadap pengelolaan sampah rumah tangga yang baik, salah satunya dengan menggunakan komposter sampah skala rumah tangga.
