Abstract
Geographically, Indonesia is located within the Coffee Belt, a region ideal for coffee cultivation, making it one of the world’s leading coffee-producing countries. Pekalongan Regency is one of the oldest coffee-producing areas in Indonesia, yet its coffee commodity remains relatively unknown. The main issues facing coffee production in Pekalongan are related to post-harvest processing and marketing; therefore, a feasibility analysis is needed for local coffee processors. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of a coffee roasting business in Pekalongan Regency, using Rumah Bariti as a case study. The research was conducted from November to December 2024 using qualitative and quantitative descriptive approaches. Primary data were collected through structured interviews with five key respondents, including the business owner, the administrative and financial manager, and three residents living near the production site, while secondary data were obtained from statistical reports and relevant literature. The analysis covered non-financial aspects (legal, market and marketing, technical/operational, management and organizational, economic and social, and environmental impacts) and financial aspects using five investment criteria: Net Present Value (NPV), Break-Even Point (BEP), R/C ratio, B/C ratio, and Payback Period (PP). The results indicate that four of the six non-financial aspects—technical/operational, management and organizational, economic and social, and environmental impacts—were not yet feasible. In contrast, the overall financial evaluation indicates financial feasibility, with an NPV of IDR 590,252,718.02, an R/C ratio of 1.46, a B/C ratio of 0.46 (defined as net profit to total cost), and a payback period of 24 months. These findings suggest that Rumah Bariti’s coffee roasting business is financially feasible but requires improvements in its management structure, environmental compliance, and operational standardization to achieve long-term sustainability. This study contributes by offering an integrated feasibility evaluation model for coffee roasting UMKM that combines financial and non-financial assessment aspects.
