Abstract

Children with special needs require more individualized educational services than children in general because they face various barriers in the learning process. However, physical limitations and emotional difficulties do not prevent them from creating and expressing their creativity. Creative activities such as painting, coloring, sewing, and accessory making give children with special needs opportunities to explore experiences and develop practical skills. This study aimed to describe the development of the digital painting activity program at Alamanda Autism Special School. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach and collected data through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The findings show that producing digital paintings can support the creativity and skill development of children with social-emotional barriers. Through digital designs applied to tote bags, T-shirts, tablecloths, bed sheets, and other products, students with autism created innovative works using digital technology. Teachers further supported the program by exhibiting the students' works at events in Surakarta and involving them in regional competitions. The activity therefore serves not only as an artistic learning medium but also as a way to strengthen self-expression, technological skills, and vocational potential among children with special needs.
