Abstract
The use of digital technology is increasing, particularly in entertainment and communication. Set-Top Boxes (STBs), initially used for watching television, can now be optimized as network-attached storage (NAS) servers with the help of the Casa OS operating system. Considering the high cost of NAS devices, repurposing used STBs as a data storage solution becomes a more affordable and accessible alternative. This research employs the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) method, which includes six stages: planning, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and management, to ensure the system is developed comprehensively. The resulting NAS system offers efficient data storage and exchange services within a local network. While building a NAS using Raspberry Pi is a known solution, the process is often considered complex. Therefore, the use of a second-hand STB with Casa OS is proposed as an easier, cost-effective alternative that reduces technical difficulties in configuring a NAS server. This research produces an STB-based NAS server using Casa OS, which helps accelerate work processes and facilitates data sharing. The STB-based NAS built with Casa OS serves as an affordable data storage solution
