Abstract

ABSTRACT Heat strain is an acute or chronic impact caused by exposure to heat stress experienced by a person from both physical and mental aspects. The physical impact can vary from minor complaints such as skin rashes or fainting to life threatening situations when there is cessation of sweating and heat stroke. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of tenure, workload, drinking water consumption and health with heat strain on workers at PT. Barata Indonesia (Persero) Pabrik Tegal. The type of research was cross sectional project. The worker population was 100 people with sample size was 34 people. The instruments used were the heat strain score index (HSSI) questionnaire, questionnaire sheets to determine the working period, and the amount of water consumption and health, and measurement of workload by manually calculating the pulse. The data analysis varied from univariate and bivariate. The results of the study showed no relationship between working period (p = 0.530), workload (p = 0.666) and water consumption (p = 0.166) with heat strain and there was a relationship between health (p = 0.001) and heat strain.
