Abstract

ABSTRACT Primary Health Care Bonang I is one of the primary health care that got attention because of leptospirosis cases. In 2018 IR leptospirosis amounted to 28.17 per 100,000 population. The aim of this study was to determine the association between environmental factors and leptospirosis prevention behavior toward the incidence of leptospirosis in the endemic area. This research is an observational analytic cross sectional study design. This research was conducted in July 2019 in Primary Health Care Bonang I. The sample of 68 houses with the sampling technique is cluster sampling. Data were obtained from questionnaire instrument and analyzed by chi square test. The results showed that the distance between the house and the sewer (p = 0.013), the presence of puddle (p = 0.001), history of leptospirosis risky activities (p = 0.011), type of occupation (p = 0.002) are associated with the incidence of leptospirosis. The conclusion of this study is that there is association between the presence of ponds, history of risky activities related to leptospirosis, and type of occupation toward the incidence of leptospirosis. Keywords: Leptospirosis, Environment, Preventive Behavior
