Abstract

Abstract Based on WHO in 2019, musculoskeletal disorders are the second leading cause of disability in the world as measured by years lived with disability (YLDs). The total number of productive years lost due to musculoskeletal disorders in the world increased from 77,377,709.4 in 2010 to 103.817,908.4 in 2015. In Indonesia, the period prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among those aged 15 years and over reached 24.7% where South Sulawesi was ranked fourth with a prevalence of 27,7%. Bus drivers are in the top three occupation with the highest risk of musculoskeletal disorders along with firefighters and nurses. This study aims to determine the correlation between Body Mass Index (BMI), work fatigue, physical workload with complaints of musculoskeletal disorders in Toraja-Makassar bus drivers. This research was conducted in August 2021 till September 2021. This research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional design. The results bivariate analysis showed that there was a correlation between musculoskeletal disorders and BMI (p=0.02), physical workload (p=0.003), and work fatigue (p=0.004). The conclusion of this study is that body mass index, physical workload, and work fatigue are associated with complaints of musculoskeletal disorders. Keywords: BMI, Fatigue, Workload, Musculoskeletal Disorder
