Abstract

Abstract Mastering reading comprehension in French is not easy and this skill often appears in students' exams. According to observations, students in the 10th grade at SMA Negeri 2 Ungaran do not use game media to learn reading comprehension in French. The teacher uses books and other written sources to teach. The medium that can help students to study independently at home is the Adobe Flash CS6 snake and ladder game. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the Adobe Flash CS6 snake and ladder game media for French reading comprehension in the tenth grade at SMA Negeri 2 Ungaran. This research is an experimental study with a pre-test and post-test design. The sample of this research was students in the tenth grade at SMA Negeri 2 Ungaran whose number was 34 students. This study used content validity. From the result of t-test, it was found that the result of t-calculus is -4.4503 and t-table is -1.6736. H0 is rejected if -t table < t calculus < t table. From the calculation, -4.4503 is not between 1.6736 and -1.6736, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. This means that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and the post-test, reaching “medium” category. The mean of the pre-test was 49.60 and of the posttest 60.25, with the effect size test result of 0.57 being included in the "medium" category. The snake and ladder game media in Adobe Flash CS6 is effective in the skill of reading comprehension in the tenth grade at SMA Negeri 2 Ungaran.
