Kecerdasan Emosi dan Stres Akademik pada Mahasiswa

Academic stress is a response to the pressure experienced by students due to not being able to meet demands and expectations during the study period. One of the factors that affects academic stress is emotional intelligence. This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic stress in Pharmacy Department students at Universitas Halu Oleo. The research design in this study used a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The population in this study amounted to 873 students and 90 students were obtained as samples. The sampling technique used propotioned stratified random sampling and the data collection used a Likert scale. The result of the Pearson’s Product Moment correlations test showed a significant value of 0,000 and a correlation coefficient (r) of -0,369. The significance value is smaller than 0,05 and a negative coefficient (r) value indicates that there is a negative relationship between emotional intelligence and academic stress in Pharmacy Department students at Universitas Halu Oleo.

Stres akademik merupakan respon atas tekanan yang dialami mahasiswa akibat tidak dapat memenuhi tuntutan dan harapan selama menjalani masa perkuliahan. Salah satu faktor yang memengaruhi stres akademik adalah kecerdasan emosi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kecerdasan emosi dengan stres akademik pada mahasiswa Jurusan Farmasi Universitas Halu Oleo. Desain penelitian pada penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian korelasional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 873 mahasiswa dan diperoleh sebanyak 90 mahasiswa sebagai sampel. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan propotioned stratified random sampling dan pengumpulan data menggunakan skala Likert. Hasil uji korelasi Pearson’s Product Moment menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 dengan nilai koefisien (r) sebesar -0,369. Nilai signifikansi yang lebih kecil dari 0,05 dan nilai koefisien (r) yang negatif menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan negatif antara kecerdasan emosi dengan stres akademik pada mahasiswa Jurusan Farmasi Universitas Halu Oleo.
