Abstract
English
Smoking is a common habit among college students, including those majoring in Physical Education. Smoking behavior is influenced by various psychological factors, one of which is self-concept. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between self-concept and the intensity of smoking behavior among Physical Education students at Halu Oleo University. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The research sample consisted of 63 male college students selected through a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used were a smoking behavior intensity scale and a self-concept scale, both of which have passed validity and reliability tests. The results of data analysis using the Pearson product moment correlation test showed no relationship or no correlation between self-concept and the intensity of smoking behavior (p=0.29) and (r=0.13). These results indicate that the level of self-concept, whether high or low, is not significantly related to the intensity of smoking behavior in Physical Education students. This finding indicates that other factors such as social environment, peer pressure, and lifestyle may have a more dominant relationship with smoking behavior in Physical Education students.
