Abstract
English
This study aims to determine the role of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) in impulsive purchasing decisions on digital platforms among Management Department students at Halu Oleo University. The phenomenon of increasing impulsive buying among students is indicated to be influenced not only by economic factors, but also psychological aspects such as FoMO, which is the feeling of anxiety due to fear of being left behind from social trends or experiences that are considered important. This study employs a quantitative approach with an ex-post facto design. The research population consists of 190 Management Department students from the 2023 cohort, with a sample of 107 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected using psychological scales measuring FoMO and impulsive purchasing decisions. The results of the study indicate that FoMO has a significant effect on impulsive purchasing decisions with an R² value of 0.52, which means FoMO contributes 52% to students' impulsive purchasing behaviour. These findings confirm that social pressure and exposure to digital media increase emotional impulses in spontaneous purchasing decisions.
