Abstract
Human reproductive health cases are potential to be used for additional learning resources on the human reproductive system and characters education. The purposes of this research were to analyse the needs for developing case-based biology teaching materials for character education, developing teaching materials on human reproductive systems, and determine the effect of the use of the teaching materials on student learning outcomes of cognitive and affective. The research was R & D. The quantitative design of pretest-posttest control group design and t test were used to investigate the effect of the teaching materials on students’ learning of both cognitive and afective aspects asessessed with psychology scales. Validation was performed by two competent validators in their fields. The results showed that the case based biology teaching materials on human reproductive system for character education was valid and it influenced the cognitive aspect of students’ learning (sig = 4,2% < 5%). The students from the treated group were more likely to intensively experience such values as ‘religious, disciplined, cooperative, environmentally aware, curious, caring’ as the fondation of characters, compared to students from untreated groups.
